his course is designed to teach speech-language pathologists how to identify and treat patients with medically compromised conditions such as respiratory, cardiovascular, metabolic and infection in the skilled nursing facility setting. The various conditions are defined in this course and structured in a way to give the speech-language pathologist tools for assessment, treatment and documentation. This is a good course for caseload development since it provides guidelines and ideas for providing skilled services to a population that may not be commonly treated by speech-language pathologists.
After completing this course students will be able to:
- To be able to identify medically compromised conditions.
- To be able to perform effective evaluations and ongoing assessments.
- To be able to develop skilled clinical treatment plans/goals.
- To be able to utilize a variety of therapeutic strategies for skilled intervention.
- To be able to provide skilled clinical documentation.
