  • his course provides the foundation for pharmacology as it pertains to injectable solutions used in AcuInjection® therapy. This material covers single-dose verses multiple-dose vials, preservatives used in injectable solutions, potential adverse reactions, skin testing, and documentation recommendations. This module also describes the difference between pharmacologically-based techniques verses technique-based techniques. A brief overview of the categories of injectables used in AcuInjection® is provided within this module and later expanded upon in Pharmacology of Injectables, Parts 2 and 3.

    After completing this course you will be able to:
    • Describe the difference between technique-based or pharmacologically-based techniques and how their mechanism of action is different from one another.
    • Explain the purpose of skin testing and what its limitations and benefits are.
    • Describe how different needling techniques and needle placement affect absorption of an injectable substance.
    • Determine what excipients are used in an injectable and describe the potential side effects of preservatives.
